Copilot Studio IT helpdesk agent, UKA first-line IT service desk agent in Teams that resolves the routine and escalates the rest.
Answers from your IT knowledge, access requests with approval, and tickets raised in the tool you already use. A working first version usually takes about two weeks, from £4,950 at a written fixed price.
Why an IT service desk agent
Your IT team answers the same requests every day.
How do I connect to the VPN? Can I have access to the finance site? My Outlook will not sync. Each one is quick, and together they fill the queue.
A Copilot Studio IT helpdesk agent sits in Microsoft Teams and takes the first pass at those requests. It answers how-to questions from your own knowledge articles, collects the details IT needs, runs approved requests through Power Automate and creates a ticket when a person has to step in.
Done well, users get answers in seconds outside office hours, and your IT team receives tickets that are already categorised and complete. Done badly, an agent becomes one more thing users route around. The difference is in the knowledge content, the escalation design and the testing, which is where most of our time goes.
Every agent is built by your PL-200 certified lead consultant, inside a managed solution in your tenant, documented and owned by you.
What the IT helpdesk agent does
Knowledge, requests, tickets and escalation in one chat.
Each build covers the same essentials, sized to your service desk.
Knowledge grounding
Answers how-to questions from your IT knowledge articles, SharePoint guides and approved Microsoft documentation, with a link to the source so users can follow the steps.
Password and access requests
Guides users to self-service password reset, and runs software, mailbox, group or SharePoint access requests through Power Automate with manager or owner approval.
Tickets in your ITSM tool
Creates incidents and requests in the service desk tool you already use, with category, priority and the conversation attached, then reports the ticket number and status back in chat.
Published in Teams
Users ask in Microsoft Teams, signed in with their own account, so the agent knows who they are and does not need to ask for details IT already holds.
Clean escalation
Outages, security concerns and anything the agent cannot resolve go to a person, either as a ticket or a handoff to a live agent where your tool supports it.
Analytics and a test set
A set of real questions with expected outcomes, run before go-live and after every change, plus reporting on what users ask and where the agent falls short.
Password and access request flows
Self-service requests built in Power Automate.
The agent handles the conversation; Power Automate does the work behind it, with approvals and an audit trail.
Password help
The agent explains how to use your self-service password reset, checks whether the user is registered and raises a ticket if they are locked out. It never asks for or handles passwords in chat.
Software and licence requests
The user picks from an approved catalogue, the flow asks their manager to approve, then assigns the licence or group through Microsoft Graph or raises a fulfilment task for IT.
Access to sites, teams and shared mailboxes
The flow finds the owner of the resource, asks them to approve in Teams and records the decision, so access requests stop disappearing in email.
Equipment and joiner tasks
Laptop requests, peripheral orders and new starter set-up captured as structured requests with the details IT needs, ready for fulfilment.
Example builds show the type of solution delivered and typical outcomes for that pattern. They are not presented as named client case studies.
Ticket creation
Works with the service desk tool you already run.
We connect to your ITSM tool rather than asking you to change it. The exact route depends on the product, its connector and your licences.
ServiceNow
Through the ServiceNow connector or its REST API, for incidents, requests and knowledge.
Jira Service Management
Through the Jira connector or API for teams already running their service desk there.
Freshservice, Zendesk and similar tools
Through their connectors or APIs, using a custom connector where needed.
No ITSM tool yet
A Dataverse ticket table with a model-driven app for IT, if a full service desk product is more than you need.
Product names are trade marks of their owners and are listed only as integration targets. Some connectors are premium, so we confirm the licensing in the written scope.
Knowledge grounding that stays accurate
An IT agent is only as good as the knowledge behind it. Before we ground the agent we review your existing articles, remove duplicates and out-of-date guides, and fill the gaps for the most common requests. Each answer carries a citation so users and IT can see where it came from.
We also agree an owner in IT and a simple routine for updating articles, because an agent grounded in last year's VPN guide does more harm than good.
Escalation without frustration
Users should never be stuck in a loop. The agent offers a person whenever it cannot help, after a failed attempt, or immediately for topics such as suspected phishing, data loss or a service outage. The ticket it creates includes a summary of the conversation, the steps already tried and the user's details from their sign-in.
Security-sensitive actions are kept out of chat entirely or run with a confirmation step and least-privilege service accounts, reviewed as part of our Power Platform governance approach.

Honest fit check
Is an IT helpdesk agent right for you?
A good fit when
- A large share of tickets are how-to, password or access requests
- You have IT knowledge articles, or are willing to write the top 30
- Your service desk tool has a connector or API
- Staff use Microsoft Teams every day
Probably not the right tool when
- Most tickets need hands-on fixes or site visits
- There is no knowledge content and no time to create it
- You want the agent to handle passwords or security changes without controls
- Your ITSM vendor already provides an agent you are licensed for and happy with
FAQ
Copilot Studio IT helpdesk agent questions
Can a Copilot Studio agent act as an IT helpdesk in Teams?
Yes. A Copilot Studio agent published in Microsoft Teams can answer common IT questions from your knowledge articles, guide users through self-service tasks, run access requests through Power Automate and raise tickets in your service desk tool. It works best as a first line that handles routine requests and escalates the rest.
Can Copilot Studio create tickets in ServiceNow?
Yes, in most set-ups. Copilot Studio can call ServiceNow through the ServiceNow connector or its REST API, usually via a Power Automate flow, to create incidents and requests and read their status back. The same pattern works for other ITSM tools with a connector or API. Some connectors are premium, so check licensing during scoping.
Can the agent reset passwords?
We do not build agents that handle passwords directly in chat. The safer pattern is for the agent to point users to Microsoft self-service password reset, check registration where permitted and raise a ticket when someone is locked out. Account changes that do run through flows use a service identity with the minimum permissions needed.
How long does it take to build an IT helpdesk agent?
A working first version that answers from your knowledge and raises tickets usually takes about two weeks through the 2-Week Proof of Value, from £4,950. A fuller rollout with several request flows, approvals and testing typically takes three to four weeks in total.
What percentage of IT tickets can an agent handle?
It depends on your ticket mix. Password, how-to and access requests are often a large share of service desk volume and are good candidates. We review a sample of recent tickets during scoping, estimate which categories are realistic, and measure the actual change after go-live rather than promising a figure.
